Program Description

The 2-year associate degree in economics aims to introduce students to the fundamentals of economics and how they may be used in the real world. Program Objectives

The objective of the program is to create the following competencies in the graduating students:

  • Provide students with a solid grounding in fundamental economic principles, theories, and concepts, enabling them to comprehend economic phenomena at a foundational level.
  • Develop critical thinking and analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate economic data, assess economic policies, and make informed decisions based on economic insights.
  • Enhance students' communication skills, both written and verbal, to enable them to articulate economic ideas, findings, and solutions clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue advanced studies in economics or related fields, or to enter the workforce in entry-level positions that require a strong understanding of economics.

Admissions and Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Eligibility: The University welcomes applications from students who have completed up to Grade 12 schooling with a minimum of 45% score. The more specific criteria follow:
  • FSC (Pre-Engineering / Pre-Medical)
  • Intermediate with Arts or General Science or Commerce
  • Advanced Levels (A Levels)
  • Any other equivalent grade 12 degree approved by the Ministry of Education.
